Wellness Coaching is a key part of an integrated approach to exercise and weight loss.
Despite the many diet and fitness options available, obesity abounds. Why is this?
Weight gain and loss often has as much to do with a person’s habits, behaviors, and the way they think about food and exercise, as it does with the amount of calories they consume and burn.
To affect lasting health and fitness benefits, you need to change your relationship with activity and food. You do this by exploring and solidifying your internal motivation and then setting realistic step by step goals that move you toward your desired outcome. This kind of exploration and change is best done with the help and support of an objective and certified Wellness Coach.
Wellness Coaching with Active Wellness
Your initial session is 45 to 90 minutes where you will define your Wellness Vision: how you see yourself at your best.
Each client is met at their level of readiness to change. You set three month goals and then your first week’s goals. Your first week goals are small, manageable and attainable goals, so you get a taste for success. We create quick wins not quick fixes.
We meet weekly or bi- weekly, in person or by phone, for 25 – 30 minutes. During each session, we review previous goals, discuss what went well or not, and why, then we set new goals. Some clients focus on goals to change thought patterns, while others work on behavioral and physical changes.
At the end of 12 weeks, most clients see significant positive changes in lifestyle and wellness behaviors. We recommend a three month minimum of wellness coaching, and will continue until the client no longer needs us. The coaching process can last anywhere from three months to three years, depending on how deeply past behaviors are ingrained. Our goal is to put the client back in the driver’s seat and have them take control of their own wellness goals.
Although having supportive friends and family is a key component to coaching they can not substitute for a qualified coach whose main agenda is to help you make change in your life. We encourage clients to partner with a certified wellness coach during times of change. Our only goal while coaching is to help you find your own answers. In doing so you can take all of the credit for your success. Reaching your best self and living a fabulous life, full of health, vitality and peace of mind is a key value to Active Wellness Coaches.
